ABOUT
I know most travel bloggers have these amazing stories of traveling for a year after uni or quitting their jobs to travel the world and now a thousand years later, they’re experts.
Wonderful. Me? I’m a 9-5 gal who hasn’t quit her job and so I’m a weekend traveler. Well not always on the weekend, but short trips nonetheless.
Hi, I’m Imari. Yes, I know I shouldn’t start my About page that way, but I want you to know that there are many different traveling styles and all are wonderful. I want to speak up for those of us who love to travel, but also love the stability of our industry jobs.
I’ve created this blog to show you that you can maintain a steady job and still have immersive experiences around the world!
How did I get started? Thank you for asking!
I’m an island girl, born and raised in the Caribbean. I was born in The Bahamas, went to Jamaica for early childhood and then back to The Bahamas. After high school, I moved to Florida for University and then got my first adult corporate job. I spent seven years loving Florida, but unfortunately, I had to move on to newer sights. The newer sight was London! Two years ago I moved to London completely on my own with no job or idea of how I will make it. I just knew I wanted to experience a new culture and create a beautiful life. I’m still here doing just that! I’ve returned to the corporate world and although I don’t think I’ll relocate again, I still want to experience more of the world!
So that is how I’ve started the balancing game of my 9-5 and travel! Despite a terrible sense of direction, I love exploring new countries and I’ve taken on the challenge of having the most immersive experiences in a short time!
City breaks and weekend travels are my thing!
I spend a lot of time researching destinations, creating itineraries, shopping for the best travel gear and running through airports! I want to share with you all the tips & tricks and highs & lows of travel. I meant it when I said I have a terrible sense of direction because I’ve gotten lost in every single city I’ve visited. Even here in London! I consider myself directionally challenged, but hey, my mistakes will now help you.
FUN FACTS
- I’m a Pescatarian (remember, island girl!)
- I love matcha (I truly believe it will replace coffee one day.)
- I’m not a low-budget traveler (but who can resist a good deal?)
- I’m a solo traveler (but I don’t think everyone needs to experience solo traveling.)
